Getting Here

We're in Kyoto's historic Nishijin weaving district

By Train from Kyoto Station + Bus

Recommended

Step 1 — Train to Nijo Station

From Kyoto Station, take the JR San-in Line (also called the Kameoka/Sonobe Line) from platforms #31, #32, or #33 (usually #32) to Nijo Station (二条駅). It's the 3rd stop on regular trains or the 1st stop on express trains.

Note: Limited express trains (not regular express) require an extra fee — avoid those.

Step 2 — Bus from Nijo Station

Exit the ticket gates and turn left towards the East roundabout. Walk on the left side of the roundabout towards the intersection/stoplight. You'll see a bus stop on the left side.

Take any of these northbound buses:

  • Route #6
  • Route #46
  • Route #55
  • Route #206 (clockwise circular)
  • Route #201 (clockwise circular)

Step 3 — Walk to the Guesthouse

Ride to the 3rd or 4th stop: Senbon-Nakadachuri (千本中立売). Step off the bus, head left (south) and cross the intersection in front of you.

After crossing, turn right (westbound). Walk straight through the "Kitano Shopping Arcade" on the left side of the street. It's about 320 meters / 1,000 feet. Cross the next intersection — we're about five buildings down on the left side.

JR Rail Pass holders: There's a JR bus from Kyoto Station to Kitano Hakubaicho (北野白梅町) — it's a 9-minute walk from there. Note: the bus runs only 2–3 times per hour.

By Taxi

From Kyoto Station, a taxi costs approximately ¥2,500–3,000 depending on traffic.

Tell the driver to take you to the Shichihonmatsu-Nakadachuri (七本松中立売) intersection. The guesthouse is about five buildings west of the southwest corner of that intersection. The entrance faces a small park/square across the street (with a phone booth).
